Course Objectives
  The Starter course is for students with no knowledge of English. The topics include personal identification, house and home, daily life, leisure activities etc. This course trains students in the 4 aspects of language learning – reading, speaking, listening and writing. The emphasis on the Grammar section is with accuracy and in the speaking sections with fluency. Written work is based on real-life tasks, such as writing letters or cards.
Course Outline
  The grammar portion covers the basic tenses and word order. Students are exposed to a core vocabulary for using English as a medium for communication with other non-native speakers. The practices and role play in class serve as a platform for students who have never used English before or lack the confidence to speak in English. Many opportunities are given for speaking, in pairs and groupwork.
Teaching Methodology
  Teachers use lively, interactive methods to teach. Pair work and group work are used in class as well as games and activities to reinforce learning.

  Our teachers are trained, qualified and experienced in teaching adults and children.
Assessment
  There will be informal periodic assessments by class teachers and an internal written and oral examination at the end of the course. *External examinations (e.g. UCLES) may be arranged.

* An Examination Fee is payable for external examinations.
Duration
  210 hours; 3.5 hours per day.
