English for Foreign Learners ~ Elementary ~

Course Objectives   The Elementary course is for students with little or no knowledge of English. The topics and contents revolve around daily conversational topics and this makes learning interesting and applicable to daily living. This course trains students in the 4 aspects of language learning - reading, speaking, listening and writing. Course Outline   The grammar portion covers the basic tenses and word order. Students are exposed to a core vocabulary for daily communication purposes, be able to read simple signages, advertisements and short articles; an understanding of the grammar of English and when to use the different tenses. The practices and role play in class serve as a platform for students who have never used English before or lack the confidence to speak in English. Teaching Methodology   Teachers use lively, interactive methods to teach. Pair work and group work are used in class as well as games and activities to reinforce learning. Our Teachers   Our teachers are trained, qualified and experienced in teaching adults and children. Assessment   There will be informal periodic assessments by class teachers and an internal written and oral examination at the end of the course. *External examinations (e.g. UCLES) may be arranged. * An Examination Fee is payable for external examinations.
