Session 1
Topic: An essay is an essay…right? Wrong!
Content: Introduction to Text Types --- Understanding the different text types; Narrative, Descriptive and Expository.
Session 2
Topic: Singapore’s baby debate takes centre stage.
Content: Argumentative Essay Writing --- What is involved (13 steps to writing your own argumentative essay).
Session 3
Topic: Hey, editor…..it’s off-stone at 1am!
Content: Narrative Essay Writing --- What is involved (Gathering information, organising summaries, synthesising information etc).
Session 4
Topic: Riddles, Jokes and the rational argument.
Content: Expository and Argumentative Essay Writing --- Summary writing for the expository essay, Grounding for the development of the argumentative essay).
Session 5
Topic: Journalism – The attention grabbing topic sentence.
Content: Having effective topic sentences --- Using topic sentences effectively to present and connect your paragraphs.
Session 6
Topic: Working with Images.
Content: Descriptive Essay Writing --- Constructing meaning from visuals.
Session 7
Topic: Bio-poems: All about me.
Content: Descriptive and Narrative Essay Writing --- Learning about autobiographical and biographical writing forms.
