  Admission Procedure for Students
from the People's Republic of China
  Sponsor
An applicant can self-sponsor his/her application. Alternatively, the school or a Singaporean citizen (SC) or Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) may act as a sponsor. A photocopy of the SC's or SPR's identity card is to be furnished together with the application.
 
  Course
New application for a Student's Pass to attend language, commercial, vocational or fine arts course in Singapore MOE approved private schools. If there is a change of course or school, a fresh application is required.
 
  Forms and Documents to be submitted
Please arrange your documents in the following order.
Kindly note that application with incomplete documents or incomplete forms will be rejected. (All the application forms are to be supplied by the school).
  1. 4 recent passport-sized photographs (colour/black & white). 2 to be pasted on the form and 2 for the school's use.
     
  2. Form V36A.
     
  3. 2 original copies and 1 photocopy of duly completed and signed Form 16 with applicant's China address written in Chinese and contact telephone number. The address should include the postal code.
     
  4. 2 original copies and 1 photocopy of duly completed and signed Form V36.
     
  5. 2 original copies and 1 photocopy of duly completed and signed Form V39S.
     
  6. A photocopy of the letter of approval issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore to private school to conduct the course.
     
  7. Original and photocopies of applicant's notarial certificates on birth, highest educational standard, highest standard school results and bank statements.
     
  8. Overseas Study Plan (with applicant's signature and date stated).
     
  9. Letter of acceptance (issued by the school).
     
  • If the applicant's parent(s)/step parent(s)/spouse is a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident, the applicant must also furnish the original and photocopies of notarial certificates on his parents'/step parent's/his own marriage certificate.
     
  • All the notarial certificates must be issued by the local Chinese Notary Public Office and certified by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People's Republic of China, in Beijing.
     
  • The bank statement shall be in fixed deposit of at least 3 months. It can be applicant's savings or his/her parent's savings or a combination of both. The minimum required bank statement is RMB 150,000 or its equivalent, if in foreign currency.
     
  Interview
Applicant is required to attend an interview at the Singapore Embassy in Beijing. The school concerned will be notified in writing of the interview schedule. (Kindly note that the waiting time for interview is about 2 months after application is received). The applicant is required to bring along the original documents stipulated in the Chinese notice for interview. This notice would be forwarded to the school concerned. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will inform the school concerned on the outcome of the application, 2 months after the interview. Therefore, please do not call the embassy to check on the outcome of the application.
  Security Deposit
In self-sponsored case, successful applicant will be informed by the school to pay a security deposit (SD) of RMB 25 000 in cash at the Singapore Embassy in Beijing. Kindly note that the applicant is only allowed to pay up the SD 4 weeks before the commencement of the course. The applicant shall come personally to pay the SD. Alternatively, his/her parents may do so on his/her behalf. When paying the SD, applicant must produce the original letter of approval by the ICA and a original school letter indicating the commencement date of the course. All applicants are advised to come in the morning when paying SD.

In self-sponsored case, the SD will only be refunded after the Embassy received authorization from ICA. Applicant will be notified by post to do so. The applicant shall come in person to refund the SD. Alternatively, he/she may nominate his/her parents in writing, to collect the refund.
  Fees
The fee for issue of a Student's Pass is S$40. This fee is payable when an applicant collects the Student's Pass at ICA. Entry visa will be issued by the Singapore Embassy in Beijing after collection of SD. The processing time for entry visa is 3 working days and the fee payable is RMB 100. No other fees will be charged.

  • Morning - 9:00am to 11:30am
  • Afternoon - 2:00pm to 4:45pm
